Some things I've built.

I tend to learn the most when I have a real problem to solve and something working to show for it.

01 / Business reliability

Business Reliability System

W3Patterns · BRS-Core and BRS-Server

I've worked around monitoring systems long enough to appreciate what they do well. They can tell you a server is alive, an endpoint responds, or a process is running.

But can the customer actually do the thing they came to do? That's a different question.

I built BRS to check business capabilities directly. Independent verifiers exercise workflows, then publish their results through Prometheus, Grafana, and alerting tools. Underneath are the less glamorous but more interesting engineering details: scheduling, isolation, timeouts, concurrency, and predictable failure reporting.

This is an independent working product and demonstration. I'm not presenting it as evidence of large-scale commercial adoption.

02 / Data integrity

Backup Verified

Independent software project

Backups are comforting. Verified backups are more comforting.

I built Backup Verified around the idea that a successful backup job shouldn't be the only evidence that your data is safe. The project includes a streaming backup agent, client-side encryption, storage integration, verification events, and a customer portal.

It's another example of a theme I keep returning to: don't just report success. Find a way to check it.

And the day jobs

There's a longer history behind these projects.

I've worked professionally in software development, architecture, operations, and engineering management. The employers, dates, and responsibilities are all in my résumé. I prefer to keep that formal record separate from the stories here.
